Fajr to offer ‘Gen Soleimani’ award

The Fajr International Film Festival has announced that it will include General Soleimani award for 2020 event.

Following the news of Major General Qassem Soleimani’s martyrdom in a US terrorist operation, the festival has decided to add an additional award themed on the highly popular martyred resistance figure.

Soleimani’s reputation as a symbol and role model for justice seekers and fighters of oppression across the world led to the unanimous decision by the festival’s organizers as well as Iran’s film industry.

The award will be presented to the best film with a theme on jihad (Holy War) and resistance.

Soleimani, along with several members of Iraq’s resistance forces known for inflicting heavy losses on the Daesh terrorist group, were assassinated by a US terrorist operation early Friday morning.

Iranians from all walks of life in various cities across the country held mass rallies in honor of Soleimani while condemning the terrorists behind his martyrdom.
